Engineering & Humanity Week - 2012

The Second Annual Engineering & Humanity Week - 2012

Engineering & Humanity Week 2012 explored the theme, From Innovation to Impact, with some of the world's leading social entrepreneurs and experts whose innovative solutions are delivering huge impact for those living at the bottom of the pyramid—the more than 1 billion people around the world who live on less than $1 per day.

This amazing week was hosted with colleagues from Southern Methodist University and the University of Oxford, who are actively engaged in global research, especially in refugee camps. Speakers are listed below.

The centerpiece of E&H Week 2012 was The Living Village, a hands-on exhibit on the SMU campus adjacent to the Lyle School of Engineering. The village showcased the latest shelter technology, transitional and quasi-permanent structures, that serve displaced and impoverished people around the world. The village was dedicated to Cynthia Smith, Curator of Socially Responsible Design for the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, in recognition of the exhibit, Design With the Other 90%: CITIES.
