Welcome to the Second Annual Engineering & Humanity Week!
We will be exploring the theme, From Innovation to Impact, with some of the world's leading social entrepreneurs and experts whose innovative solutions are delivering huge impact for those living at the bottom of the pyramid—the more than 1 billion people around the world who live on less than $1 per day.
We are delighted to co-host the event with colleagues from Southern Methodist University and the University of Oxford, who are actively engaged in global research, especially in refugee camps.
The centerpiece of E&H Week 2012 is The Living Village, a hands-on exhibit on the SMU campus adjacent to the Lyle School of Engineering. The village will showcase the latest shelter technology, transitional and quasi-permanent structures, that serve displaced and impoverished people around the world. The village is dedicated to Cynthia Smith, Curator of Socially Responsible Design for the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, in recognition of the exhibit, Design With the Other 90%: CITIES.
A full program of keynote speakers, topic panels and receptions to meet others who share the passion for making a difference is in store for E&H Week 2012. Please take a moment now to register to attend or to help sponsor E&H Week 2012.
Your presence at Engineering & Humanity Week is vital to this effort. Welcome!
